AirEV, an Israeli startup, has decided to move the automotive design into the sky, with an ambitious and totally environmentally friendly project. They developed AIR ONE, a fully electric two-seater eVTOL that offers a range of 110 miles, (177km), on a single charge at speeds of up to 250km per hour. The flight time is about one hour. The aircraft is equipped with folding wings for easy parking and the ability to take off or land on any flat surface.
AIR explained that the aircraft “puts the freedom to fly directly into the hands of consumers” for “adventure, fun and daily flying”. When on the ground AIR ONE can fold its wings and occupy a space that is no greater than that of a pickup. Being a fully electric vehicle, it needs a charging station (or alternatively a normal power socket) in order to function. Charging times are no longer than those of a normal electric vehicle.
AIR ONE has 771HP available at takeoff but manages to reduce consumption and performance as if they were “only” 100HP. This means that the “reserve” energy can be used to increase the fun and maneuverability of the vehicle. A 100% charge takes about an hour, while an 80% charge takes just 30 minutes.
The model is still in the development phase, but AirEV is currently taking deposits on future models that will be delivered in 2025.
