DESCRIPTION

The Vail Products® Backup Rippers are designed to enhance the efficiency of backhoes, loaders, and dozers by breaking up compact subsoil materials during reverse motion. These pivotal backup rippers swing back out of the way during forward operation, ensuring they do not interfere with the equipment's primary function.

Made from abrasive-resistant, high-yield alloy steel, the shanks deliver superior durability and performance. Whether you're working with shale, caliche, sandstone, frozen ground, blacktop removal, or land clearing, these backup rippers excel in the toughest conditions.

Installation is simple, requiring welding the housings onto the back of buckets or blades. Smaller units may need a backing plate, while select models offer pin-on functionality for easy removal when not in use. The ripper size and penetration depend on the dozer/loader specifications, mounting position, and blade or bucket configuration.
